“Small Talk is a specialized Early Childhood Intervention Centre for children who have been diagnosed with language-based learning difficulties”
I am currently in second-year Public Relations at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Richmond, and our class is having a fundraiser to benefit Small Talk BC, a centre for children who have difficulties with a gift we take for granted—the beauty of verbal communication.
Nowadays, with technological progressions, we are losing the art of conversation. It is easier to type and think about what one can say, than to just have that personal connection with someone and speak spontaneously.
Sometime in the early next year, my PR class will be having a big fundraiser for Small Talk. We are aiming to give these children the resources they need to deal with the rest of the world. Though they may have language-based learning difficulties, it’s important for them to still be able to communicate, and Small Talk is the perfect tool to help them with this.
We want to raise a lot of money to help Small Talk, and we are starting with a fundraiser on NOVEMBER 12th (Friday), at Bar None at Yaletown (with DJ Zak Santiago and DJ Kidd) located at 1222 Hamilton Street, Vancouver BC http://www.bar-none.ca/
The ticket to attend this event is only $10. TEN DOLLARS! How many events can you go to for $10, and at the same time support a cause that helps children! Even if you’re not into clubbing (because Bar None is a nightclub), a mere donation of $10 for the ticket would mean a lot to the children at Small Talk, and to my hardworking PR class!
It would be a night of fun, dancing, supporting the kids, and partying with my beautiful PR classmates =)
Please buy a ticket, and support your local students at Kwantlen, and also support the children and the families of Small Talk (click for more information).
You may email me for tickets: justinne.ramirez[at]kwantlen.net.
Thanks and I hope you can help! Because it will make you feel better=)
